Sony Bravia M Series KDL 37M3000 37 Inch 720p LCD HDTV >> Sony Bravia M Series 37 inch LCD TV I recently picked this tv up used and am happy with the TV The sound is average the picture is bright and the colors appear decent I dont think the M series is the top of the line Bravia as another reviewer claimed The back lighting is a little too bright so blacks are not super dark even with it turned all the way down The external styling is nice and simple Too many LCD manufacturers are using glossy black finishes that in my opinion look horrid >> Sony Bravia KDL 37M3000 The only problem with SONY TV s is that they like the Energizer Bunny keep going and going and going My 1986 Sony 19 inch needed a big brother and after looking at Sharp and Samsung and others I concluded that the SONY LCD 37 inch Bravia 3000 was the logical choice The 37 inch is large enough for the average sized living room the remote simple and uncluttered containing only the functions and features you will use 99 of the time and nothing more The menu system is easy to understand and interact with and has my favorite feature seemingly unique to SONY the INFO BANNER that displays the title of the program currently aired The picture quality is excellent and does not have that overly emphasized contrast that many lesser brands use like a fishing lure to entice the unwary buyer SONY simply put is a great product overall and the Bravia LCD in particular is well designed having fantastic well balanced warm natural colors sufficient controls to enhance picture and sound to your personal taste and an array of inputs that satisfy most needs If there is any doubt yes I am a loyal SONY customer because once you have had the best there is no substitute >> Beautiflul design great picture quality There may be other slightly cheaper brands with good looks or good picture quality but none of them have both like this Sony Bravia Add to this the Sony name and competitive pricing this Sony Bravia easily beats its competition
The contrast is excellent and the display is bright I think the picture quality actually beats my 46 Bravia I bought last year I haven t used any yet but it s got plenty of input options including VGA and HDMI ports I highly recommend this set

cons doesnt use standard speaker connections so you can only use the cheap speaker wire they included no treble or bass control no night listening feature no phono plug only two rca inputs poor sound quality weak bass compared to cheaper units with powered sub woofers if your listening to music and you want to turn up the sub woofer you have to stop listening and scroll through the functions to find dvd turn on your tv stop the dvd from playing after you wait several seconds for it to load go into menu and scroll to the bottom then scroll through that menu to select sub woofer exit scroll back through functions several functions and if you pass it then you have to start from the beginning of the functions list very slow cd changing

the bottom line is this receiver boasts about features but in actuality the features that are useful are non existent From a company like sony I would expect that they would hire a human factors engineer to help design their products and if they did he/she should be FIRED Its clear that sony made a cheap product in order to make money instead of making the customer happy I dont think this stereo even deserves a star Other stereo systems in this price range are a thousand times better for sound features and usability I paid 350 for my DAV HDX501w everything worked like new but it still was not worth the price >> Average Picked one from local Sams club for 477 In my view this is below average home theatre system

In general Sony makes good products although you do sometimes have to pay a little more for them The Z series is their mid range series it s better than the S V and some others but doesn t have all the features of the XBR series This TV is the 4100 series which unfortunately makes it just one model short of being able to do a lot of cool internet enabled things For example the 5100 model and everything above that including the XBR series can stream netflix movies I ve also tried streaming video from a DLNA server and found it somewhat limited While JPG images can display easily and you can play MP3s I got that working in just a few minutes Sony doesn t guarantee support for anything other than basic mpeg2 video format and I ve had little luck even getting that to work Since most internet video is distributed in other formats this means you re going to have to get another device HTPC Bravia internet link Roku box Xbox PS3 etc in order to get internet video Depending on your plans for other home theater devices and budget you may want to upgrade to the 5100 series or XBR for the additional internet based features however if you re like me and getting a HTPC anyway then it doesn t make sense to spend additional money for features you ll have through other devices

Sony Bravia W Series KDL 52W3000 52 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV >> Good till it died Bought this TV in November 07 Worked fine until it developed backlight problems after just two years and it had to be repaired Sony said that the panel had to be switched out They sent a panel but it was not the right one right box wrong panel very puzzling They sent the right panel two weeks later Unfortunately the replacement panel is not working properly because I m getting blurry picture caused by uneven backlighting This happens when the TV set is initially turned on Its almost like a fluorescent bulb which flickers and lights up after it gets hot Except it takes anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes for the TV picture to become normal Very disconcerting I was such a Sony fan until I bought this lemon Thankfully the TV is under 4 year warranty with Best Buy and they will be coming again to either fix or replace the TV In fairness to Sony though the TV when it worked had very good picture quality with vivid color especially hooked up to a Sony blue ray player The speakers are ok but not surround sound quality I got the Sony home theater to enhance the audio The audio works great with the blu ray and other components but not with my cable TV box The TV tech folks tell me that KDL TV models seem to be having sync problems with digital cable and sat boxes in my area The audio keeps cutting out when you switch the audio to your home theater speakers The audio is fine though through the TV speakers
Bottom line with this TV though is that it seems to have backlight issues and I can only hope that Sony has taken care of this in later models My next TV though will probably not be Sony >> Great for 3 years until it died I ve had this TV for three years I don t have any complaints about it One day it simply quit working I called the extended warranty company they came out said the entire panel needs to be replaced Now they re going to buy me out so I can buy another TV

All I can say is that this TV was perfect until it died I was very happy with it Mine was in a very bright room and there was no loss of color on the TV I had lots of sunlight coming in and the picture quality was the same no matter how bright the room was I also like that this TV does not have a piano finish I did not want reflection off of the sides of the TV s due to all the sunlight and reflection that our family room has >> Not what I expected from a 2 400 TV especially a branded name Bought my KDL52W3000 from Sears on one of their sales in November 2007 2 400 out the door seem like a pretty good deal on this TV It worked beautifully for about 14 months until it started to develop horizontal lines on the right side of the screen creating a ghosting image If I turn it off for a while the picture comes back to normal But eventually the problem comes back I didn t get extended warranty cause didn t imagine that such a TV could go so bad so soon Pixel problems seems common for this TV based on the reviews I ve been a big fan of Sony products especially of their tube TVs Not any more I m regretting not picking up the Samsung next to it My sister took a Samsung at the time and the picture seem more alive I didn t get the Samsung because it had a glossy screen which can be bad when viewing in front of windows and such But the glossy screen makes the contrast and black level so much better No more Sonys for me unless it s 50 off or better cause that s what I feel is worth If you re shopping for a TV picture quality is important but reliability is just as important because it can be very frustrating to see your money on the curb

Sony Bravia M Series KDL 26M4000 26 Inch 720p LCD HDTV >> Recurring problem with Bravias This is a nice TV great for general use for the most part The one issue that it fails at and on epic proportions is the internal computer I have a recurring problem with two different bravias but I m only writing the review for this one The entire screen will dim when a dark scene is present If you re watching Star Wars and the screen is showing a picture of space the dark picture will cause the tv to dim the entire screen You ve no idea how maddening this is So beware Sony makes other good TVs but after the runaround I got from support my suggestion is to stay clear of this one >> Love my sony Purchased this in March 2009 for bedroom Was easy to set up and install channels from Comcast Had no problems I have on fireplace mantel and it fits fine I ve not dabbled in a lot of the features and settings as I m a basic user There s a slight delay in turning on and showing the picture which just takes some getting use to The sound is great I don t notice any picture change from different angles however I view fairly head on The only thing I still don t like is the use of the remote control The buttons seem to have a slight delay and doesn t function as well as past tvs Sony and Toshiba alike >> Don t Trust Sony Warranty I purchased this TVSony Bravia M Series KDL 26M4000 26 Inch 720p LCD HDTV for my mother and paid the premium for a Sony as I wanted to be sure my mother would not experience any problems To our surprise after 10 months the picture went bad Fortunately there was a 1 year warranty with the TV My mother was easily able to access the Sony warranty people on the phone who arranged for her to receive the exact same model BUT one that was refurbished This new refurbished TV came with only a 90 day warranty as opposed to the one year warranty on the new TV I originally purchased This refurbished TV went bad after just a few weeks At that point Sony offered my mother a 32 inch new TV for an additional 400 That was ridiculous as this price plus the original paid for the malfunctioning 26 would mean that we paid over 900 for a 32 TV that costs 599 today new on Amazon So my mother requested that she simply receive a new 26 TV to replace the original purchase that went bad within the warranty period They said all they can do is give her another refurbished 26 TV with a 90 day warranty So basically our new TV with a year warranty has been reduced to a refurbished TV with a 90 day warranty In addition my mother has spent many days without a working TV This will definitely be the last Sony TV purchase I ever make as they clearly no longer stand behind their product

Sony Bravia KLV S32A10 32 Inch LCD WEGA HD Ready Flat Panel Television >> Beware I would be very wary about purchasing this TV I did not buy mine from Amazon but I did buy this model 2 years ago It was an investment but I felt confident making the purchase since it was a Sony Big mistake 2 years to the day the picture looked very strange orange colors gohsting I ended up having to take it to a Sony licensed repair shop I was told it needed a new T Con PCB a 300 part I agreed to the repair I was called a few days later and told Sony doesn t sell that part on its own you have to buy it as a larger package for 800 I paid almost that when I bought it The gentleman at the repair shop says they ve seen three of these models come in with the same exact problem
I have spent many hours on the phone with Sony customer service and have been told that since the TV is out of its one year warranty I m out of luck I have argued that they should stand behind their products especially the high end expensive ones and at least help with the repairs of a 2 year old TV The battle continues
I would not purchase this TV or any Sony TV really again in the future >> even better now that the PS3s are out We ve had this unit for a year and it s been great Hooking up our PS3 to it with a less than 6 HDMI cable from Abacus24 7 we are very much appreciating the ability of this set to offer truly stunning quality at the 720p level
It was great before now it s even better >> Great TV for the Price Sony has always made great electronics old tube WEGAs their notebooks and desktops are awesome and this TV is excellent I just wanted something bigger and better than the old 20 WEGA tube The form factor on this is perfect for a decent sized apartment The speakers are fine one person can move it easily and you can put it almost anywhere
DVDs with whatever DVD player is hooked up to it look awesome There really isn t anything worth watching on cable so I just use a regular old antenna with decent gain It s not the perfect picture that you could trade your first born to Comcast to get but it looks pretty good If you are thinking of a Sony be sure to check out the Samsung LCDs as well they look pretty sweet and many have more inputs if you want to plug more stuff into it in the future

I say unless you are wanting a TV you can mount on the wall you won t be disappointed with this thing The viewing angle is the best I ve seen for a projection TV It gets a little darker when viewing it from the side but it never seems to loose a lot of brightness at any angle The TV is every bit as slim if not slimmer than Samsung s Ultra Slim DLP series The Picture quality is hands down top notch and theres still a lot of tweaking that I need to do and I can achieve even a better picture I ve heard about delays in gaming that make gaming systems unplayable on certain TV s but this one is not one of those TV s Right now all I have is a Wii hooked up to it hopefully a PS3 too within a month or so and it looks and plays awesome Hooked up my old HTPC to it and the picture is as clear as a monitor Setup was very easy as the TV uses the XMB Xross media bar and its designed for easy setup and instant fun straight out of the box Don t have money for a home theater System yet Well neither did I and I can honestly say the speakers on this TV are top notch and unbelievable Definitely the best set of TV speakers I ve ever heard
If there are any cons I can only think of one and thats that since its a rear projection TV and not LED based it uses a projection lamp thats rated for 8000 hours Now I did the math and that basically means your lamp will most likely last 3 4 years for an average person or 333 days straight if you just leave it on all the time but eventually your still going to have to deal with it and its an average of 200 for another lamp I knew that before I bought the TV so I guess in that aspect its not a con >> Great TV Sony is closing out their line of LCD rear projection TVs to focus on Plasma screens They are offering great deals on their KDF Bravia line I bought mine through Amazon with free shipping The TV itself has an excellent picture and good sound quality Unless you really need a thin TV to mount on the wall this HDTV is an outstanding bargain Where else would you get Sony quality a 46 inch screen the Bravia engine and 1080p resolution at a price like this

Sony Bravia KLV 40U100M 40 Inch HDTV Tunerless LCD Monitor >> Great Picture and High Def Too I bought this LCD screen a while back and it is in excellent condition The one I bought is this same exact model The remote is simple and the features are easy to use It is very basic and great for everything It s a good screen and I love mine It s a good one if you re looking >> Beware of problems with the U series Bravia LCD tvs I ve owned a Sony Bravia KLV40U100M 40 inch LCD tunerless tv for about 4 months The TV was great when I first got it set up and I had no problems with it for about 2 months Suddenly the TV started turning itself off and then turning back on by itself It would do this once or twice a day while on At first it didn t worry me too much but after a month the problem started occuring more frequently After calling Sony and troubleshooting I was told that it would need repair I did some research online and found a lot of other owners complaining of the same problem The TV will eventually die Apparently it s a well known issue with the U series tvs and it requires replacing the board which is usually expensive and on back order Many people who receivd replacement tvs had the same thing happen with the new one The TV has a great picture but I would never had purchased it if I had known about this issue Sony acts like they don t even know about problem Think twice before purchasing this TV >> Great tv I have had this tv for a couple of weeks and it has performed very well so far HD picture quality is incredible SD picture quality is pretty good For now that s the trade off I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the speakers too
I had trouble figuring out how to take off the stand as well Curiously it s not even mentioned in the manual Over the phone customer support was completely useless I found out how to remove the stand after some digging on the Sony website You DO NOT have to remove the entire back panel to take off the stand as stated by another reviewer That is what Sony told me over the phone and I didn t buy it There are 10 screws on the back of the tv near the center at the bottom The 8 screws closest to the bottom center of the tv have to be removed and then the stand can be pulled off

Other channels beyond Amazon s video download which you can link with your Bravia account for easy purchase are CBS with most of their TV lineups available SI a trailer channel and many others about 20 in all upon its initial search I haven t experimented with adding anything yet as I m curious how hulu will work with this
Overall a great TV at a great price from Costco A 2 year warranty tops off the package well >> Bravo to Bravia For the last six weeks we have enjoyed having Sony s Bravia KDL 46WL140 W series Full HD 1080p HDTV grace the wall of the family room a spot previously hidden by a large wooden media cabinet that contained a 37 JVC CRT TV The contrast in clarity and sharpness between the two TVs is amazing and the Sony s crystal clear picture on HD TV shows just how much technology has changed in just nine years
Before buying this model I was looking for a flat screen with plenty of HDMI inputs not that we need them now but in three years who knows a TV that itself was not ugly or overstated didn t want any touches of red or other colors as I was not buying a car and a TV that would make me stop and stare at the picture A bit of research preceded my expedition to find the right TV we were saving change for quite some time and this model was the one I kept coming back to at the large consumer club where I bought it The other TVs all getting their feed from the same in store source and all subject to the same harsh overhead lighting all paled in comparison Plus this was the last one in the store showing that I was not alone in my opinion
We installed this 46 inch on a Sanus rack and actually our measuring was the most time consuming part of the installation The set up menus were easy to follow and the we had the TV up and running in about 30 minutes We have tried out some of the options and after some initial tweaking in the deeper levels of the menus have not tended to leave the settings as is I suspect once we add a blu ray DVD player we will need to reexamine the options
It took a bit longer for me to figure out all the inputs and get the surround sound working through my older non HDMI receiver but I agree with others that the TV s sound is a bit anemic and the added muscle from surround sound really enhances movies and concerts
Guests have all commented on the quality of the picture and the size of the 46 inch screen For us this is plenty of TV and we should be future proof for a few years yet I have not yet hooked up the Internet component though it is installed but plan to run an ethernet cable directly from a router to the TV in the next few weeks >> great value for the price I purchased this tv at Sam s club on black Friday and couldn t be happier The price was 1348 00 The tv came with internet hardware which I still haven t connected I bought it to watch tv not some goof on u tube The menu on the tv is very simple to use and takes no time at all to start watching your favorite shows in HD The picture is great along with very good sound If you find one buy one

In general Sony makes good products although you do sometimes have to pay a little more for them The Z series is their mid range series it s better than the S V and some others but doesn t have all the features of the XBR series This TV is the 4100 series which unfortunately makes it just one model short of being able to do a lot of cool internet enabled things For example the 5100 model and everything above that including the XBR series can stream netflix movies I ve also tried streaming video from a DLNA server and found it somewhat limited While JPG images can display easily and you can play MP3s I got that working in just a few minutes Sony doesn t guarantee support for anything other than basic mpeg2 video format and I ve had little luck even getting that to work Since most internet video is distributed in other formats this means you re going to have to get another device HTPC Bravia internet link Roku box Xbox PS3 etc in order to get internet video Depending on your plans for other home theater devices and budget you may want to upgrade to the 5100 series or XBR for the additional internet based features however if you re like me and getting a HTPC anyway then it doesn t make sense to spend additional money for features you ll have through other devices
