When the unit first powers on there is a 3 5 second delay before you would see any picture on the wireless connected TV The distance between my transmitter and receiver is about 50 feet with no line of sight and both picture and sound are perfect with no interference from cordless phones I have DECT 5 8GHz wireless lan mine is running at 2 4GHz or microwave

PS Unfortunately i purchased through amazon via an affiliate so i cannot return the product However i CAN sell it so i will >> Works Great When It Works This product works great when it works The problem is since this is on the bleeding edge of technology it has a number of glitches The largest problem you are going to run into has nothing to do with signal interference but rather signal compatibility I hooked up an Xbox360 Cable Box PS3 and DVD player/sound system and sent the video signal to my projector and used the Toslink out for the sound which went to my DVD player/sound system For the Xbox360 I could get video to get sent to my projector but the sound wouldn t transmit to my sound system For my PS3 which is made by the same company I could get sound just fine but no video The only thing that worked properly is playing a DVD but that was because the sound was localized to the system already otherwise I m sure I would have gotten video only out of it Bottom line for video games and tv there was no lag no contouring and no pixilation I ended up returning this product and opting for a hard wire run and just putting cable covers on to hide the cords My advice wait for the second generation of this product and if you are going to buy make sure there is a good return policy that s why I bought it on Amazon

I was baffled with the pixellation of the display quaility at first I do not have cable/satellite but the HD broadcast quaility is great even with regular bunny ears Some broadcast channels are still broadcasting in analogue quality display so there was a BIG difference with picture quality between those stations and HD ones I have read that a good quaility antenna can provide a better picture quality and more channel options a future upgrade soon
I use Roku to play Netflix and Pandora and the pixellation issue was the same until I change the box setting to HD and used an HDMI cable from the CRT standard and the graphics are very sharp I hope Netflix will start offering HD videos soon >> Excellent I bought this TV in October 2008 It was shipped to me in south Florida from California and out of the box the picture and sound were great I have Dish Network HD service and the receiver to the TV connection is HDMI I also have a VCR DVD combo unit connected using component cables I have the Sony 32S3000 which is now 20 months old and I calibrated it using AVIA II So I used those values for the 37M initially and after about six weeks of use I calibrated it using AVIA The value differences were very slight I have a feeling the negative reviews are based on initial impressions and maybe there is a bad connection or an incorrect connection The Sony manual is very informative Also set your receiver to the native resolution of the TV which is 720P I also have the sound set to PCM ONLY and the RF MODE on the Dish receiver This prevents the sound levels from fluctuating in two channel stereo I think this TV as well as my other Sony are fantastic I definitly recommend

The menu system and options have been flushed out nicely to avoid shortcomings from the past few years The set can remove the overscan with the 1 Screen setting for both 1080i and 720p signals Previous sets only did 1080i A very nice feature
Don t pay much attention to the above reviewer they have some other problem I have this set hooked up to Time Warner Cable with absolutely no issues I have a whole house video system and it is hooked into a single TWC DVR box with no issues as well a single coaxial input dedicated to the bedroom where this set is It does a tremendous job of displaying decoded HD signals from the coaxial cable signal The Bravia engine three seems to do a much better job than the BE2 I do not believe the BE3 was available in ANY 32 last year even the 32XBR9
I was replacing a KDL26M4000 and this set is heads and shoulders above in every aspect You won t be disappointed

First let me say that I love this Sony TV the KDL46W5100 its a keeper even though there are some things I don t like it does bring it where it counts
PROS Picture quality connectivity internet features they are all there The built in Netflix streaming widget is awesome and I almost use that more than DVD s anymore
Picture quality is something to behold especially when watching Blu Ray content spectacular Sony nailed it here Connectivity this unit has lots of HDMI jacks 100Mbit ethernet digital audio line out audio etc etc Sony nailed it here Internet Widgets Sony did a good job here but there are some disappointments the DLNA connectivity is weak more on this later
CONS Speaker Rattle DLNA connectivity and some of the user interface is annoying
Speaker rattle is caused by bass sounds in movies its probably common to all large HDTV s the solution Hook your TV to an external amp speakers The user interface makes it unnecessarily hard to toggle the TV speakers on or off no biggie but annoying >> Amazing TV I couldn t be happier with this TV I held out on buying a TV for a long time but I m glad I pulled the trigger when I did This thing looks beautiful both when it s turned on and when it s off The picture quality is great the built in speakers sound pretty darn good and can get nice and loud I have an XBOX 360 hooked up to it via HDMI and also an Over The Air antenna
I have to say the internet features built into the TV are a little weak I presume whatever CPU chip they have in there is pretty slow because navigating the internet features is sluggish Not an issue though if you have other internet devices hooked up to it that you use instead like an Xbox
Delivery went really smoothly I live in downtown Washington DC and the delivery guy parked his truck on my street and wheeled the TV down the sidewalk on a cart and then helped me carry it up three floors to my bedroom and helped me set it up on the stand Very nice

The service center ordered the main board for me on 2/10/10 back ordered until 3/10/10 No show after 3/10 and was told new ETA for parts is 4/27 Called SONY and they called me back in a week Told me new parts arrived that day contacted my service center no they didn t receive parts Called SONY again they couldn t figure out why I didn t get parts Called me back in a week and told me new parts arrived again I waited for a few days and contacted my service center no they didn t receive any Called SONY again no clue as usual After several times of 45minutes on the phone SONY said they will replace my set swith a refurbished set Another week as gone by still no one contacted me about the delivery of the set yet
So I had the TV for half a year and it worked for the first 3 months I am absolutely disappointed at SONY Don t think I will ever buy a SONY again at least nothing other than playstation games >> A great picture and green as well I had been actively seeking this HDTV but was resigned to finding it out of stock it has been discontinued for 2010 or for full pop pricing which I wanted to avoid However a link to the product on Amazon through my Yahoo shopping page brought me to the set I wanted at a price that was incredible with free shipping WOW The fulfilling company Video Audio Ctr in Los Angeles was very easy to work with and delivered and set up the product for me on time and accommodating my schedule Very impressive
The HDTV itself was all I wanted and more Set up is easy there are plenty of inputs for all my TV toys and it looks incredible My only complaint/caution to those buying this model the base is not really sturdy enough to support a big top heavy 52 HDTV I recommend using a wall mount if you can Otherwise be sure to secure the TV to a wall or your stand just in case I am in earthquake land so toppling over is a concern

The Eco Bravia has brought the future to my house Now I m shooting for 240hz 1440p 1 000 000 1 don t look back guys the future is waiting >> Huge power consumption savings great picture quality great value I ve had this TV for over three months now Previous to purchasing this set I waited and shopped for over a year looking for the right TV at the right price I run my place off solar power with every watt I use of power making a difference so I had been looking forward to this model since it was announced early in 2009 due to it s low power consumption In this regard it has not disappointed For all LCD TV s power consumption varies highly depending on how high you turn up the backlight I use it almost solely for movies which look great with the backlight at the lowest setting or up only 1 or 2 clicks Cinema setting is nice At lowest backlighting this TV uses only about 80watts of power measured with my handy Kill A Watt meter Upping the backlight to 2 increases it to about 90watts For those interested if I turn it all the way up it goes up to about 145watts But I never want it anywhere near this bright The TV running together with my Sony Bluray player uses a total of 96 watts when playing a Bluray movie This is fantastic By comparison my previous TV a couple year old high quality 32 Sharp model also 1080p and one of the more energy efficient models of its time used nearly as much power as this 40 model A new standard non Eco Sony 40 or a Samsung or other brand uses at least 125watts with the backlight turned down With the backlight up other normal models use well over 200watts So this model has a real world 40 power consumption savings compared to a typical 40 set This is fantastic and every bit as good as I had hoped
Also if you re considering a bigger 46 or 52 set the power consumption of this EV model in those bigger sizes actually scales better relative to normal LCD s not to mention plasmas also Meaning as you go up in size you actually get a higher percentage increase in power consumption savings So for example the 46 EV uses only about 20 watts more power than this 40 compared to an increase of about 60 or more watts in a standard V series or other brand LCD for the same increase in size

As to the picture quality it is every bit as good as I expected for an LCD set Even the blacks on this set are a huge improvement over my previous 2 year old Sharp 32 LCD They even seem slightly better darker than my brother s one year old 52 Sony V series 52V4100 Of course the black levels aren t going to be as perfect as my friend s new 50 plasma due to the inherent flaws in LCD technology but they are as good as any LCD I ve seen and I m happy with that I am sourcing almost solely Bluray so the quality is top notch I can not comment on how SD television looks as I ve never used it and don t really understand why anyone would want to buy an expensive HDTV like this primarily for SD content DVD s through the Bluray player upscaling look surprisingly good Though nowhere near as stunning as Bluray definitely better than standard DVD quality In every other way the picture quality is fantastic with one exception There is a very slight bleed in of light on the upper left and right corners I guess this might be that notorious problem I ve heard about with Sony s As someone who is meticulous on details I did notice it right away when I first turned on the set However it is only noticeable when the background is black for example during movie end credits and as I said it is very slight If it were more than very slight I definitely would have returned or exchanged the set immediately but it s a tiny negative to an otherwise outstanding LCD picture quality

Sound quality despite all the bad reviews I see here is above average for built in sound on a flat panel In fact it s far and away above most other HDTV s I tested particularly Samsung models which seem to almost intentionally have unusable built in sound It is also much better than my previous Sharp model which incidentally still had much better sound than than the Samsung models I tested I carefully tested the sound on some higher end Sony models as well last year s Z and XBR and found the sound quality on this to be comparable The real test however is will the built in sound be acceptable good enough when actually watching a movie It passes this test It seems to depend a lot on the source or the actual specific disc as sometimes having the sound at under half volume is fine while another movie will require it to be nearly all the way up but overall I find the built in speakers surprisingly usable As to the vibration noise issue reported by many here I do notice some vibration noise when the bass is loud and the volume is turned up high on occasion but not so much as to be a glaring problem Maybe others here got defective speakers In conclusion the sound is as good as any flat panel set I ve used yet better than 50 Panasonic Plasma better than most other LCD s about equal to high end LCD s Especially if you re using the TV mainly for sports and TV the built in sound is good That said as would be the case with any HDTV today I will probably be adding a good quality sound bar or surround system in the future to get more of a theater like movie experience

Overall I m very satisfied with this set I felt compelled to put in my two cents after reading the several negative reviews here Many of the negatives seem to either be due to bad speakers or some unrealistic expectation with regard to SD Standard Definition picture quality etc I m glad I bought it before reading all the bad speakers reviews as those reviews might have stopped me from buying it Few people seem interested in this TV s main draw which makes it worth the slight premium over Sony s regular V series set Low power consumption In this regard it is so far and away above the rest that I m tempted to give the set 5 stars overall The only reason I m not is because of the very slight light bleed in at the top corners for which I refuse to give Sony the perfect 5 stars
Lastly when you consider that the price of this has come down so much now as we head into 2010 with new models on the horizon I think right now is the sweet spot in terms of the value you get with this set if you re looking for a good quality TV with low power consumption

only issue is scrolling through my favorite channels that I programmed is a bit cumbersome My old TV had a special button that would just scroll through the 10 channels that I added as favorites On do better than this Purchased from eDirect before I found Amazon s listing I was swayed by all the 5 star reviews at Amazon nowadays as viewed in showroom setups there s no way to judge image quality The mosquito noise seen in showrooms appears in my living room as well though it s not as prominent as on other LCD s As for comments about great color I m not sure what that oft used phrase is supposed to mean this tv is deficient in Blue and has a 25 Red push that glows like neon and often bleeds like the reds on dirt cheap store brand CRT s The SONY at least has RGB adjustments although RGB Gain can only be reduced not increased a really odd design In one picture mode Red is pushed 34 which looks bizarre but which apparently appeals to great color enthusiasts Sadly SONY doesn t provide color Y level controls not even in the miniscule service menu In Cinema/Warm Mode the grayscale RGB is admirably flat except for a typically elevated Blue leg from 40 IRE on down most LCD s have such grayscales ostensibly to make blacks look darker actually it just makes blacks look blue not black The value R16G16B16 digital black is a color rarely seen on HDTV s After some drastic and very tricky RGB adjustments with help from a colorimeter and HCFR software blacks looked more neutral and the Red push was made at least tolerable but high red gamma suffered somewhat At least it kept most skin tones from looking like terminal cases of third degree burn although fair skinned people often have an unsightly hot pink tint The overall image is suitably contrasty and sharp and SD sources look much cleaner than with most LCD s With HD and SD there s some noisy moire in fine grained objects like sequinned gowns and heavy wool coats and shimmer when very high contrast objects move But those effects are common on many LCDs Low IRE gamma is a bit aggressive making some darks look rather inky especially with BluRay thankfully there s a backlight control that helps a bit Motion is mostly handled well even without 120 hz gimmicks which don t work anyway because refresh rate isn t the source of LCD motion blur Turn off noise reduction which adds its own artifacts and makes motion blur worse Thankfully I haven t seen judder or stutter so far but I saw a mild case of upscaling jaggies With a pristine image source the overall picture is better than average and looks quite sharp and snappy without phony edge enhancement I measured the real world contrast at around 2100 1 an impressive figure with excellent darks and crisp whites black and white movies play nicely Less perfect sources low contrast noisy low density scenes in fog heavy rain etc just look smeared and murky this is digital video s fault not SONY s BluRay looks very punchy and sharp though BR compression artifacts are easy to spot As far as a generally cleaner image is concerned SD DVD looks much better on this set than on other 26 inchers I ve seen At this size the difference between 720 lines and 1080 couldn t be seen even with a 37 1080p sitting beside it If your BluRay player outputs 720i or 720p set it that way HD DVD downscaling doesn t play well here The tuner is fairly fast channel cruising is a bit slow but I ve seen much worse Setup instructions warn that channel scanning takes 50 minutes my scan found 100 plus cable stations in 12 minutes Audio ain t great but it s cleaner and louder than averege and works well from its coax output but no headphone jack Viewing angle is narrow about 15 degrees either side a tad wider than some others Overall I d say it s an above average LCD aided by limited RGB controls but marred mostly by annoying Reds and absent the full featured CIE adjustments found on some sets It nicely replaces the average low quality generic 20 or 24 CRT But if your old higher end smallish CRT still works well and can be calibrated stick with the tube

Sony KDL 52W5150 52 BRAVIA LCD TV 120Hz widescreen 1080p FullHD HDTV black >> Great TV very happy purchaser Great TV very happy with my purchase Shipped promptly and good communication with seller >> Nice TV But Has Some Issues This is a nice TV but it does have some important issues First of all the clouding in dark scenes or flashlighting can be annoying and is a common defect on these TVs Sony is aware of the issue and their only suggestion is to turn down the backlight and/or brightness If you like a bright vibrant picture you will not want to turn down either The second issue is the sound You would think that a product made by Sony would have above average sound quality This TV has way below average sound The speakers are mounted in the back of the TV which makes it sound like it s in a box When you do try to turn up the sound to compensate the speakers vibrate and distort You will need to buy a sound bar speaker to get good sound The good features of this TV are the vibrant colors of the picture and the internet capabilities If I had to do it again I would probably wait until the prices of the LED TVs come down but I would still buy a Sony since they have the best picture >> Incredible Machine Santa Claus brought this TV to our home on the 25th I couldn t wait to power up the unit even though it was late in the evening after getting home from our annual Christmas gathering at my folks home My previous unit was a Pioneer Elite 50 second generation projection Nice picture really big and heavy terrible off center view but overall a nice tv This thing just blows that old technology away While shopping with Santa I purchased a Sony BDP N460 Blue ray Disc player to go along with the new TV I think this is a must if your are planning to move up to this level of picture quality The Blue ray player will up convert your older DVD s to a HD signal and the TV will indicate it is receiving a HD signal via a little LED on the front panel by the power on indicator The picture is just stunning
Over the Holiday week I have enjoyed watching older Pixar movies such as Monsters Inc as well as The Incredibles I just couldn t ask for better picture quality I do have to warn you though once you see a Blue ray movie on this tv its over You will only want to by Blue rays from now on Your jaw will surely drop when you watch Monsters Vs Aliens on this tv through a nice Blue ray player
Another interesting feature that I have been playing with is the Bravia Internet Widgets The TV has a LAN port on its back so you can connect it via a CAT5 cable to your high speed internet connection I had to run out to BestBuy and pick up a ethernet switch to make all of this work but it did work after making all of the connections to my router When you push the Internet Widget button on the remote it will take you to a list of applications that you can apply to the tv such as the latest news or weather or stock updates Things like that I thought that was kinda nice
I would recommend that you utilize the HDMI ports for all of your equipment if possible This type of connection will offer you the highest possible quality thats currently available And go with the middle to topend levels of quality with these cables They are a bit costly though but the quality of the picture and sound is incredible
I read the other reviews on the 5150 one reviewer indicated the sound was not as great as they had hoped I really thought the sound was really good for the provided TV speakers But really if your going to buy this tv you really need to set up a 5 1 or 7 1 sound system I have mine running through a Denon AVR 3806 and then through seperate speakers I believe this will give you the greatest enjoyment

Oh by the way I ve had the TV for 6 months now As of right now the TV is NOT working at ALL It would turn on and then off all by itself I can t access the settings menu because by the time i press the menu button on the remote and all the menu features show up on the screen the TV has decided to turn itself off

Sony Bravia S Series KDL 32S5100 32 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Black >> I m 68years old male I do not trust Sony s Tech or Customer Service A this unit was a refub I had plan to use this TV to as PC Monitor Any way price was not bad so I ordered Sure when I received PC connection was working Video and Audio but When I switched HDMI port Audio is not working I have two other 52 Sony LCD TV thorse ones are works fine I hooke UP Antenna TV works All Channel but channel change time rug is way too lomg than others My kitche s Vizio TV channel changes instantly >> RG Shelton Fairly good picture having trouble getting light and contrast adjusted to my liking the sound is the worst I have ever heard >> Nice TV I love the TV and I ve had it for about a month now Unfortunately I don t have a blue ray player but the picture comes across great on Netflix through the Wii The sound is what you d expect from a typical TV nothing special If you want better quality purchase a home theater set up Also I ve noticed that the screen dims during dark scenes not helpful but later learned that this is in response to ambient lighting You can turn this feature off in the eco setting within the menu Works great now The stand is rather flimsy and plasticky I m only 150 lbs yet every time I walk by the TV seems to sway I would recommend getting a wall mount if you can The only other thing I can think to mention is the appearance I kind of hate it I will say I m very picky but the bottom portion of the frame is horrible There is a clear strip that runs partially through the center that serves no aesthetic purpose unless you enjoy looking at cords behind the TV Overall I would recommend this TV to anyone The image quality is superb and it serves as an excellent addition to any room

Sony BRAVIA S Series KDL 46S5100 46 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Black >> love it great tv for the price this tv is awesome its good on the pocket to picture is great if u have hd sources regular sd channels look kinda grainy but i figured it was normal only issue i have found is the software update you will need for the hd inputs they just stop working after time but you can call sony and they will send u a usb drive u just plug into your tv i picked this tv up for 750 tax not a bad investment i have a ps3 hooked through the hdmi and it looks awesome and the bravia sync is definetly cool to use with the ps3 i can use my tv remote on the ps3 with the sync overall if your looking for a good tv for everyday watching/gaming i recomend this one i gave it a 4 instead of 5 because the hdmi ports issue should have been resolved by sony instead of me figuring out what happened by researching it otherwise it would of gotten a 5 >> Excellent television After years upon years of using a standard definition telvision I decided to foray into the world of HDTV I was on a budget and this item not only delivered on budget but also on quality
My friend has a more expensive Bravia at his home but there are virtually no differences from either of our sets of eyes The only differences would be the lack of some features such as Picture in Picture and a couple other minor features I don t usually see many people use
Blu ray discs look sharp and beautiful as do games Blacks and colors look excellent I feel like I am looking at a computer screen and indeed I can connect my computer to the television and use it as an extended monitor It looks stunning when I do this
3 HDMI inputs simplify use though I am somewhat disappointed that Bravia link doesn t seem to work with my fat PS3 But it s not a deal breaker
For under 1000 this television is definitely worth a purchase if you have some extra cash laying around and are looking to jump into the world of HD >> Excellent Quality Excellent Price Did tons of research before deciding on this 46 model Video quality is superb does excellent is most all scenarios ok in low light scenarios For those of us that want the video image to look a very specific way the settings menu is very intuitive and does lend one to go into a great deal of manual adjustments For those out there who are a little Tech challenged fear not very very easy pre set settings are available and TV works fine right out of the box Audio is good not great but to be fair this is true for almost every HD TV especially in this price range for a 46 I ve have not owned this set long enough to rate durability but based on my experience with Sony products I m not losing any sleep over any potential issue we all know Sony makes quality electronics Still very excited about the purchase verify satisfied customer Will update review if anything changes but as of right now no hesitation in giving this TV 5 stars

Sony BRAVIA V Series KDL 46V5100 46 Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Black >> Be Careful When Purchasing This Item We purchased this TV in Nov 2009 and hooked it up using the HDMI cables The set worked great for a few days and then starting losing the sound and picture Assuming it was our local cable companies issue we contacted them Five months and six cable boxes later the cable company informed us there was nothing more they could do and to contact Sony which we did Sony immediately set up an in home service call The repair tech called to confirm and told us they are aware of the problem and know exactly what s causing it A BM3 board has been ordered Why hasn t Sony contacted the consumer about the issue In the meatime the set is hooked up to component cables 5 cables total just to view the TV in HD and it works fine One of the reasons we purchased it was for the HDMI advantage and Sony s reputaion Be very careful when purchasing this product We are extremely dissappointed >> Firmware update to correct issues I ve had 2 of these TVs since december 2009 One of the tv had the HDMI input fail and not knowing there was a firmware update had it returned and bestbuy replaced it with the kdl 46ex500 Essential the same TV just updated for 2010 with a swivel base a detachable power cord and more jpeg mp4 mp3 etc support But it lacks a clock Now the second tv s HDMI s input failed and after an hour of trouble shooting I unplugged the tv and then plugged it back it and it basically rebooted tv and cleared the issue After some research I see there is a firmware update available from sony You can call and have them send it to you or download it and do it yourself The customer support rep also mentioned that there is another update beyond that E3 version but only if the current update fails to correct your issues Check sonystyle Here s the link Other than this great TV for the price got it black friday from sonystyle with a 120gb ps3 for 1000 >> Unreliable junk One month in an HDMI 1 port did not work After a multi call support runaround from Sony a repair person replaced the motherboard Less than two months in HDMI 1 port has the exact same problem Sony to send repair person again Presumably they will fix it then it will break again Junk product and poor support Won t be buying a Sony TV again

Sony HT IS100 BRAVIA Theater Micro System Set of Six Black >> Fantastic I have a difficult time understanding how anyone could rate this system anything but 4 or 5 stars Seriously if they did they must have gotten a lemon I received this system a couple of weeks ago and waited to set it up till we moved into our new home which we did this morning My entertainment center was delivered and assembled today so I got it all put together a few hours ago I have a Mitsubishi WD 60C8 60 DLP The setup was a piece of cake The rear speakers come packaged with a ton of speaker wire so you can get them where you need to I hired an electrician who ran the speaker wire back for me under the carpet and behind the floor boards I have this system connected to my television blu ray player and Comcast HD DVR all via HDMI IT is a VERY nice feature that you run all the HDMI cables from your devices i e blu ray player dvr xbox etc to the amplifier/receiver and then run one HDMI cable from the amp to your tv The remote has buttons on it that say TV BD DVD SAT and all you do is push one of those buttons and it switches for you Thus you don t have to constantly hit the tv/video button on your tv remote until you get to the right setting The receiver/amp does it all for you It works very nicely I put in a blu ray disc of the movie UP sat back and was just astounded at the sound quality Honestly it is excellent Like previous reviewers I am no audiophile although I do own a headphone amp and some nice Sennheisers but this system sounds great I mounted the three front speakers on the top of my entertainment center and used a little double sided tape to secure them They aren t light but need a little help staying put For the money this thing is a seriously good price The speakers are so cool and such a great conversation piece At the moment I am listening to music through my cable subscription It sounds fantastic The sub woofer does a very nice job I am very satisfied with this product >> Awesome tiny GIANT Speakers look like toys and when you first look at them you will definitely think over and over if you have done the right thing We live in a town house row house so can t put in a real heavy sounding giant Picked this and it is the perfect fit for my house I am not really an expert at analyzing sounds from these equipment but to me this one sounds great My neighbor has a Bose system which he paid 2700 and this was 1/10th the cost approximately So for 1/10th the cost it sounds close to 60 of Bose system again my assessment can t ask more in terms of bang for your buck
On the whole I am very happy with the system here are some highlights 1 Can connect three HDMI PS3 Dish TV laptop input devices to the device 2 DMPORT device that connects your ipod and iphone is included with the box 50 to 60 value 3 can connect WII or VCR to this 4 Speakers are small and can be almost hid or tiny that you won t notice them 5 Sounds great

Sony BRAVIA EX 500 Series 55 Inch LCD TV Black >> Very Happy with this TV I had the same experience as the other reviewer with a 5 year old 60 inch rear projection Sony TV that developed a blue blob on the screen I was none too happy when Sony put me on hold after telling me my TV was out of warranty When they came back on and offered me this TV for less than half the retail price I was OK with that result Now that I ve had the TV for a couple of months I m thrilled with it It doesn t have all the bells whistles/internet connectivity of other models but I love the picture It s a great value even at list price and I ll get all those bells whistles with my new Blu ray player anyway Nothing bad to say about this TV >> This TV did not live up to expectations I purchased this TV at HHGREG for 1590 00 taxes included which at the time I thought was a great deal and I was really hyped about this new Sony series When I got home and set the TV up right away I knew I had made a Big Mistake This TV or the one I had suffers from the same flaws that are inherented in all LCDs from backlight bleeding banding dead pixels terrible off axis the colors were way over staturated no matter what setting was applied I had hoped LCD would have improved in this area by now I guess not The TV itself also seemed very cheaply made the only thing even remotely nice is the shiney metal strip at the bottom everything else seems to be thin plastic thst almost feels like it would crumble in your hands with the slightest pressure
I admit I am picky when it comes to my AV equipment but this TV is sub par at best TV manufactors you need to focus on QC and lay off the mass production junk
>> excellent value This Sony was sold to me directly from Sony in exchange for a 5 year old 60 Sony that had an optic block problem that would require an expensive fix Sony had been repairing this problem for free but I had no way to know that until mine went bad and then talking to Sony they had switched to an exchange program where the customer would pay about slightly less than half the retail price If you have a slightly older Sony that is putting either a blue color on the screen or a green one you might start directly with the Sony Style website and contact their support help to see what they may offer you On one hand I was very sad to see my 5 year Sony develop a problem but on the other hand I have to give Sony credit for standing up to the known problem
The largest TV offered in the exchange program was this 55 model or I certainly would have gone for the 60 because I prefer that size That said this model has a better and more vibrant picture than my older Sony which was a premium model that I had paid over 4 000 for So the bottom line for me is that this new Sony has a better picture for less than the old one even if you pay retail My old Sony weighed 113lbs and this new one is around 65lbs so it is easier to handle The remote is better and more intuitive We watch this in a very bright room filled with natural sunlight during the day and this TV handles that very well with no glare The speakers are nothing to write home about and probably not as good as my old Sony but we tend to watch movies with the sound coming from a quality sound system anyway My old Sony was 1080i and this one is full 1080p which is an excellent picture We get our signal from Dish Net which broadcasts almost exclusively in 1080i anyway For movies we use a Samsung Blu Ray player which works beautifully with this TV In fact there is a type of automatic setting that the Samsung and the Sony have where when you turn on the Samsung the TV also turns on and then goes directly to the input from the Samsung Very cool Truthfully I can barely tell the difference from a good blu ray picture and a good standard DVD We tend to use Netflix a lot and always order Blu Ray when available
I thought the set up was easy and the available HDMI connections are excellent as my old Sony only had two HDMI inputs and this one has 4 We actually use all 4 with a DVD recorder Dish Net HD camcorder and the blu ray
I would have no problem recommending this Sony LCD TV and in fact when I looked in the stores I thought the new LED LCDs seemed a little too bright I do miss the 60 size but everyone who has looked at this picture has been in the wow camp with it

Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL 32XBR9 32 Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV >> Works great with my Oppo 83 and Roku The TV can loaded with the latest firmware It arrived in excellent condition no damage to the box Setup was simple My Oppo 83 is hooked directly into a HDMI port the picture look superb I just wish I had bought two at 697 the price is back up to 899 My Roku goes into a second HDMI port and it look great >> A steal for the price Pros An excellent TV The picture is awesome Very good viewing angle I have never seen a 32 TV display HD content so well The menu options are vast The colors are deep rich and vivid pun intended Also Sony s vivid color mode has been improved greatly tried it on a 2005 TV the colors looked cartoonish The USB ports are awesome Simply plug in a USB stick and show off your pictures or play your music
Cons Well the sound is OK but honestly what they heck are you expecting out of that little speaker The default color settings were AWFUL This thing required quite a bit of calibration to get it looking like it should if anybody wants the settings reply with a comment and I will give them The picture out of the box is why I docked this a star
Other thoughts As said many times before UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE The download is available from Sony >> TV Lemon My family has been buying Sony TVs since the mid 1960s I already own two Sony Tube TV but decided it was time to purchase a new flat screen TV I purchased a Sony Bravia XBR KDL 32XBR9 based on my past experience with Sony products and consumer reviews I put the new TV in my remodeled kitchen the picture quality was great Unfortunately I lost the picture within a month It seems the HDMI connections failed I notified Sony Customer Service and within a week a technician came out and replaced the circuit board The TV was back in business however within another month or so the HDMI failed again I notified Sony Customer Service again and they promptly came out and fixed it again This time I wasn t too happy so I wrote to the head of Sony USA and complained I said while the Customer Service was great I wasn t happy that a new TV would fail so soon I wrote that I ve bought 5 Acura cars since their inception and Apple Computer products since 1989 and none of these products have ever failed like my new XBR I also explained that while Sony does offer a refurbished TV in place of a problem TV under warranty that wasn t the point and explained that if I wanted a refurbished TV I would have bought one I bought a new TV and expected it to work After the head of Sony USA received my letter I got a phone call from a Customer Service Rep She acknowledged my complaint and said because of my problem that Sony was going to extend my warranty for another six months I told the rep while that was nice it doesn t do me any good since I already have Sony Extended Warranty coverage Well to make a long story short the HDMI connection has failed for a third time last week I put another call into Sony Customer Service using the so called special phone number the last Customer Rep gave me The new rep that answered the phone reviewed my case and then came back on the line and said because of the problems my TV was having he would have to turn the problem over to a special group The rep said the someone from the new group would contact me in a day or so Well that day or so has come and gone So much for ever buying another Sony product This TV gets one star for looks and nothing more Now I know why DirecTV engineering no longer uses Sony TVs
