Sony Bravia M Series KDL 26M4000 26 Inch 720p LCD HDTV >> Recurring problem with Bravias This is a nice TV great for general use for the most part The one issue that it fails at and on epic proportions is the internal computer I have a recurring problem with two different bravias but I m only writing the review for this one The entire screen will dim when a dark scene is present If you re watching Star Wars and the screen is showing a picture of space the dark picture will cause the tv to dim the entire screen You ve no idea how maddening this is So beware Sony makes other good TVs but after the runaround I got from support my suggestion is to stay clear of this one >> Love my sony Purchased this in March 2009 for bedroom Was easy to set up and install channels from Comcast Had no problems I have on fireplace mantel and it fits fine I ve not dabbled in a lot of the features and settings as I m a basic user There s a slight delay in turning on and showing the picture which just takes some getting use to The sound is great I don t notice any picture change from different angles however I view fairly head on The only thing I still don t like is the use of the remote control The buttons seem to have a slight delay and doesn t function as well as past tvs Sony and Toshiba alike >> Don t Trust Sony Warranty I purchased this TVSony Bravia M Series KDL 26M4000 26 Inch 720p LCD HDTV for my mother and paid the premium for a Sony as I wanted to be sure my mother would not experience any problems To our surprise after 10 months the picture went bad Fortunately there was a 1 year warranty with the TV My mother was easily able to access the Sony warranty people on the phone who arranged for her to receive the exact same model BUT one that was refurbished This new refurbished TV came with only a 90 day warranty as opposed to the one year warranty on the new TV I originally purchased This refurbished TV went bad after just a few weeks At that point Sony offered my mother a 32 inch new TV for an additional 400 That was ridiculous as this price plus the original paid for the malfunctioning 26 would mean that we paid over 900 for a 32 TV that costs 599 today new on Amazon So my mother requested that she simply receive a new 26 TV to replace the original purchase that went bad within the warranty period They said all they can do is give her another refurbished 26 TV with a 90 day warranty So basically our new TV with a year warranty has been reduced to a refurbished TV with a 90 day warranty In addition my mother has spent many days without a working TV This will definitely be the last Sony TV purchase I ever make as they clearly no longer stand behind their product

I have spent many hours on the phone with Sony customer service and have been told that since the TV is out of its one year warranty I m out of luck I have argued that they should stand behind their products especially the high end expensive ones and at least help with the repairs of a 2 year old TV The battle continues
I would not purchase this TV or any Sony TV really again in the future >> even better now that the PS3s are out We ve had this unit for a year and it s been great Hooking up our PS3 to it with a less than 6 HDMI cable from Abacus24 7 we are very much appreciating the ability of this set to offer truly stunning quality at the 720p level
It was great before now it s even better >> Great TV for the Price Sony has always made great electronics old tube WEGAs their notebooks and desktops are awesome and this TV is excellent I just wanted something bigger and better than the old 20 WEGA tube The form factor on this is perfect for a decent sized apartment The speakers are fine one person can move it easily and you can put it almost anywhere
DVDs with whatever DVD player is hooked up to it look awesome There really isn t anything worth watching on cable so I just use a regular old antenna with decent gain It s not the perfect picture that you could trade your first born to Comcast to get but it looks pretty good If you are thinking of a Sony be sure to check out the Samsung LCDs as well they look pretty sweet and many have more inputs if you want to plug more stuff into it in the future

The parts of this tv failed easily and the Sony service center was no help at all No one was willing to help me or even describe the problem to me There was no assurance that it was a problem other than the lamp and that the problem wont happen again Its possible that it will and I will have to buy a new lamp every year Sony s service was horrible and no help I would never recommend this product and would advise anybody against buying any Sony product
>> Absoloutly AWESOME Best 1080P for the money period I first found this TV at Fry s electronics and immediately was blown away from the sleek design picture and price At that point in time it was 1200 but further research lead to finding it on here for under 1100 and even further research found if I went straight to ABT s site the sell of the TV the TV was 50 cheaper I searched flat panels DLP s Plasma s and this TV came to be the best bang for the buck period
I say unless you are wanting a TV you can mount on the wall you won t be disappointed with this thing The viewing angle is the best I ve seen for a projection TV It gets a little darker when viewing it from the side but it never seems to loose a lot of brightness at any angle The TV is every bit as slim if not slimmer than Samsung s Ultra Slim DLP series The Picture quality is hands down top notch and theres still a lot of tweaking that I need to do and I can achieve even a better picture I ve heard about delays in gaming that make gaming systems unplayable on certain TV s but this one is not one of those TV s Right now all I have is a Wii hooked up to it hopefully a PS3 too within a month or so and it looks and plays awesome Hooked up my old HTPC to it and the picture is as clear as a monitor Setup was very easy as the TV uses the XMB Xross media bar and its designed for easy setup and instant fun straight out of the box Don t have money for a home theater System yet Well neither did I and I can honestly say the speakers on this TV are top notch and unbelievable Definitely the best set of TV speakers I ve ever heard
If there are any cons I can only think of one and thats that since its a rear projection TV and not LED based it uses a projection lamp thats rated for 8000 hours Now I did the math and that basically means your lamp will most likely last 3 4 years for an average person or 333 days straight if you just leave it on all the time but eventually your still going to have to deal with it and its an average of 200 for another lamp I knew that before I bought the TV so I guess in that aspect its not a con >> Great TV Sony is closing out their line of LCD rear projection TVs to focus on Plasma screens They are offering great deals on their KDF Bravia line I bought mine through Amazon with free shipping The TV itself has an excellent picture and good sound quality Unless you really need a thin TV to mount on the wall this HDTV is an outstanding bargain Where else would you get Sony quality a 46 inch screen the Bravia engine and 1080p resolution at a price like this

I had trouble figuring out how to take off the stand as well Curiously it s not even mentioned in the manual Over the phone customer support was completely useless I found out how to remove the stand after some digging on the Sony website You DO NOT have to remove the entire back panel to take off the stand as stated by another reviewer That is what Sony told me over the phone and I didn t buy it There are 10 screws on the back of the tv near the center at the bottom The 8 screws closest to the bottom center of the tv have to be removed and then the stand can be pulled off

Overall a great TV at a great price from Costco A 2 year warranty tops off the package well >> Bravo to Bravia For the last six weeks we have enjoyed having Sony s Bravia KDL 46WL140 W series Full HD 1080p HDTV grace the wall of the family room a spot previously hidden by a large wooden media cabinet that contained a 37 JVC CRT TV The contrast in clarity and sharpness between the two TVs is amazing and the Sony s crystal clear picture on HD TV shows just how much technology has changed in just nine years
Before buying this model I was looking for a flat screen with plenty of HDMI inputs not that we need them now but in three years who knows a TV that itself was not ugly or overstated didn t want any touches of red or other colors as I was not buying a car and a TV that would make me stop and stare at the picture A bit of research preceded my expedition to find the right TV we were saving change for quite some time and this model was the one I kept coming back to at the large consumer club where I bought it The other TVs all getting their feed from the same in store source and all subject to the same harsh overhead lighting all paled in comparison Plus this was the last one in the store showing that I was not alone in my opinion
We installed this 46 inch on a Sanus rack and actually our measuring was the most time consuming part of the installation The set up menus were easy to follow and the we had the TV up and running in about 30 minutes We have tried out some of the options and after some initial tweaking in the deeper levels of the menus have not tended to leave the settings as is I suspect once we add a blu ray DVD player we will need to reexamine the options
It took a bit longer for me to figure out all the inputs and get the surround sound working through my older non HDMI receiver but I agree with others that the TV s sound is a bit anemic and the added muscle from surround sound really enhances movies and concerts
Guests have all commented on the quality of the picture and the size of the 46 inch screen For us this is plenty of TV and we should be future proof for a few years yet I have not yet hooked up the Internet component though it is installed but plan to run an ethernet cable directly from a router to the TV in the next few weeks >> great value for the price I purchased this tv at Sam s club on black Friday and couldn t be happier The price was 1348 00 The tv came with internet hardware which I still haven t connected I bought it to watch tv not some goof on u tube The menu on the tv is very simple to use and takes no time at all to start watching your favorite shows in HD The picture is great along with very good sound If you find one buy one

In general Sony makes good products although you do sometimes have to pay a little more for them The Z series is their mid range series it s better than the S V and some others but doesn t have all the features of the XBR series This TV is the 4100 series which unfortunately makes it just one model short of being able to do a lot of cool internet enabled things For example the 5100 model and everything above that including the XBR series can stream netflix movies I ve also tried streaming video from a DLNA server and found it somewhat limited While JPG images can display easily and you can play MP3s I got that working in just a few minutes Sony doesn t guarantee support for anything other than basic mpeg2 video format and I ve had little luck even getting that to work Since most internet video is distributed in other formats this means you re going to have to get another device HTPC Bravia internet link Roku box Xbox PS3 etc in order to get internet video Depending on your plans for other home theater devices and budget you may want to upgrade to the 5100 series or XBR for the additional internet based features however if you re like me and getting a HTPC anyway then it doesn t make sense to spend additional money for features you ll have through other devices

Sony Bravia XBR KDL 40XBR6 40 Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV >> Warning I purchased this t v in December 08 It worked great for just shy of one year and then it simply went dead no picture no sound only turns on and off If the t v still worked I d have no major complaints perhaps the greens and reds are a little off but I was able to mostly correct this with some customizing And the sound is excellent especially when compared to Samsung Update I m now trying to get Sony to replace the t v It was repaired and delivered yesterday After watching it for about 5 minutes the same problem happened No picture no sound Needless to say the only thing that will satisfy me now is receiving a new t v
Here s the problem I contacted Sony 8 weeks ago to explain the difficulty we were having spent about 2 hours trying to fix it over the phone to no avail I suggested they give me approval to get it serviced but they insisted I wait for a USB software update in the mail 6 weeks later after 3 incorrect address delivery attempts and more customer service incompetence than you can possibly imagine I finally received the software update I had them overnight it And of course it didn t work
Next we move onto the service phase where I am now in a holding pattern I needed to get a repair breakdown and service estimate from the technician but he wouldn t give me one as he had no idea what was wrong with the t v No picture No sound Huh Only turn on/off Now I am waiting to talk to his manager to get some document I can fax back to Sony along with all the receipts in order for them to approve repair service
In summary our t v has not worked for well over a month I have wasted well over five hours talking to incompetent Sony representatives over the phone and I have little hope of having a working t v anytime soon Thankfully it is still under warranty by only one week I am hoping I have no problems with my other Sony equipment in the future In any case this will be my last Sony purchase Comment >> I LOVE my Sony but also was expremely impressed with service I cannot say enough about this company The model I originally ordered was out of stock so they Up graded me to the newest model They called me and explained the situation and asked if I would mind I was extremely impressed with this and would recommend them to all The TV came on time and works great Paying extra for a Bravia XBR was well worth it I thought the 40 might be too big for my bedroom couldn t see the old one from my bed but it s perfect >> Sony Bravia loving it I did a lot of research and then a lot of shopping for this product and am very satisfied with the picture and ease of use

I am wholeheartedly confused >> Great Investment I currently live in Germany and move a lot to different parts of the world I had a 34 Trinitron 1080i TV which was very nice for the 4 years I had it but I felt the need to upgrade I did a lot of research looking into TV s as I had to be sure this would do everything that new HDTV s did but could also support PAL signals and dual voltage areas as I was not guaranteed to be in the States anytime soon This beautiful televison did the trick for me
I currently am running a PS3 for my Blu ray Player I will upgrade this early this coming year as I want to bitstream my audio a Sony STRDG 820 7 1 Receiver with all speakers and this TV I love it as I get a great picture and very good sound Personally bitstream audio is the way to go as I am a huge fan of DTS I recommend this TV to anyone in my situation but it also fits the bill if you live in a little town in Montana with no intention of going anywhere

Sony BRAVIA W Series KDL 46W4100 46 Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV >> Be careful when buying Sony LCD TV I bought this Sony LCD TV set at 2008 Christmas It was excellent in picture and sound seemed to be better than Samsung LCD TV Meanwhile just 2 3 months after the one year warranty it was found that there was a 2 or 3 pixel wide vertical line about 2 inches from the left brim and from the top to bottom brim presenting in the screen when watching TV programs DVD and BlueRay which were suspected to be dead pixels The software was updated to sony dtv package206r p08 but the line was still there SONY support office told me that this might be caused by TV brocasters And I need to bring it to repair if it presists after hiding broadcaster noise attempts while the cost won t be covered by SONY as the warranty has expired
In brief if you want to watch the TV just for one year then buy it Otherwise think twice >> BIG BLACK line after 14 months of use Sorry NO warranty Oh NO my beautiful SONY true branded SONY big black line down the screen Oh the horror and dismay I received this LCD TV in October 2008 as a 10 year anniversary present We bought it from Amazon Warehouse Deals I had to kick in some of my own money to up the brand to a Sony After a little over 1 year it developed a big black line down from the top to the bottom of the screen in the RED spectrum only Green and Blue are fine But when red shows up on the TV a big black burned out pixel line shows very prominently So I thought well there goes the 1400 we spent on this TV NOT MY BEAUTIFUL SONY But alas after all I could do no fixing the black line The Sony authorized service folks told me the LCD panel would need to be replaced and that cost more than to just go buy a new TV I also called Sony and they told me I would be on my own to get it repaired again told that the cost of repairs is more than the cost of the TV brand new
So 1400 for 14 months of Sony TV use amounts to 100 a month rental fee and Mother Earth and the trash dump takes one on the chin for another disposable piece of electronic wizardry
Yes the TV still works yes one could live with the black line down the TV side but for me every time I watch TV that line stares at me and I think about nothing but Dang this was supposed to be a SONY
So I cannot recommend this product even though for the 1 year it looked beautiful Unless you buy an GIANT extended warranty it is wicked to buy a TV and have it last only 1 to 3 years My 1991 Sony Trinitron still works perfect My how the brand has suffered over the years So sad and disappointing

Sony BRAVIA Theater System with S AIR Technology DAVHDX277W Black >> Below Par Grossly disappointing I bought it on the labor day sale at for a neat discount Used it for 2 weeks and then packed it and its in storage right now Replaced it with Onkyo S5100 Wanted to send it back after 3 days got a RMA too but then planned to gift it to my parents with 5 speakers from other company because my parents are not audiophiles at all
Features I Loved I loved the subwoofer Compact but very nice and punchy bass looks good too
Features I felt Good 5 disk DVD changer is handy in that you donot have to stand up to change disks Amplifier seems to output decent power
Average Features 1080p upscaling very average I have a oppo 980H which is far better Remote is OK
Bad Features 1 The system works on 48KHz Signal It is surprising that when most other companies are pushing almost to 192KHz signal this top of the Sony Line Including HDX275 279 576 etc etc My sound card is at least an order magnitude clearer
2 Horrible speakers I have no words to emphasis this Not even worth 10 for all five of them I threw them to make space Sounded hollow and do not know why they have a port Bass reflex Its a joke that these are sold as full range as they have only 2 5 drivers which produce only some below average midrange forget anything else About Audio power I think Sony missed decimals in all the figures 84W should have been 8 4W
3 Proprietary connectors Why No idea Cheap plastic If one breaks you will have to call sony and considering that the warranty is only one year you know what you can run into Wiring is too cheap
4 S Air is a joke too First of all Let me confess that I do not believe in wireless audio connector for fidelity and interference But still thought can make a use of it in the bathroom but it the signal is far from steady even when separated by a thin 1 cm wooden wall The walls in my apartment are cheap but still it does not work and yes it will not give you loud sound just may be a total of 10W and why somebody will use it in the same room as the Home theater might be a stupid question
5 False information about Wireless technology This system is NOT supposed to have wireless rear speakers Rear speakers need to be wired Its called wireless because it comes with the SA unit which is not more than a over hyped FM Radio set or if you know not even that as it needs to communicate with the central unit for radio too

7 Central Unit has only 2 digital inputs and the preference for inputs is automatic
Most of this should also be true for DAVHDX279 and DAVHDX576W as they come with the same central unit speakers and subwoofer DAVHDX279 may have wireless speakers which is a plus point and DAVHDX576 is DAVHDX279 with the same SA unit I talked above >> sony with samsung tv Read the description and it sounded great to have wireless audio in separate rooms from one source As this system was intended to install directly with new Sony TV systems compatibility wasn t questioned TV couldn t be delivered out of stock and was upgraded to better Samsung model System sounds great but all these speakers are hard wired to source Wireless receiver module is included but one needs to buy other wireless compatible speakers to augment this system for the main room or for other rooms So for a true surround sound system out of the box it s not wireless You still need to run wire drill holes crawl the attic or under floor etc to install the basic system Other rooms can get wireless speaker/s but you gotta buy them If it stated that this system couldn t operate all speakers provided wirelessly I would have continued looking Doesn t really tell you this and the photo doesn t show a bunch of dangly wires protruding out the back but that s marketing for you Still this cranks the living room of my small house and sounds better that the new TV speakers alone but still it s not as nice as my Onkyo receiver and two powerful in wall speakers and one wired sub from an install 5 years ago You can feel the walls and floor vibrating Could of just as easily crawled the attic and installed a few more speakers and connected to the existing system Still I didn t send it back did I >> The little HTIB that could Installed this yesterday w/a new Sony Bravia 46 LCD TV
The TV and the receiver interface pretty well out of the box they can talk to each other if connected via HDMI and optical out from the TV to the receiver and the changing inputs on the TV will make appropriate changes to the audio output selected There is an option to tell the Sony TV remote which AV/Receiver you are using so that it can do double duty So now I can turn both the TV and the reciever on/off with one button choose a video input and the audio is switched automatically etc The Sony feature is called something like HDMI Sync
The sound of the unit is much better than I expected It s not going to make an audiophile give up their high end systems and can t match the setup in my main room but it is going to be more than adequate for most listeners and for folks looking for a compact system It has enough power to fill a big room nicely with a big sound and the subwoofer is powerful enough to rattle your walls and windows
It comes with a nice feature a microphone you attach to the receiver and then set in the middle of the room The receiver then automatically tunes the speaker levels to the appropriate level I haven t done that yet have to get the rear surrounds hung but if it works OK it will be a nice feature
The iPod dock included only supports audio a big disappointment Why they stopped at audio is hard to understand iPod video is at least as important now as audio playback Oh well
The included wireless speaker seems like a solution in search of a problem we don t have Allows listening to the audio playing on the receiver in different rooms or outside We re really not sure if we ll use it or not we have radios pretty much anywhere we want to listen to the radio and don t see any need to hear the TV from another room where I can t see the TV
This is an all plastic speaker set you won t find any fabric or wood here but they still look nice and don t feel cheap
Overall I d say this is a good system with a nice sound Paired w/a Sony Bravia TV it makes a nice easy to use combination

Remote size color picture quality are all pretty good The sound is about on par with most of other reviews in that it is marginal at best The biggest complaint I have with the TV is not being able to change the angle of it It does not swivel turn or tilt up or down It struggles to remain 90degree upright

The picture is very good and the sound is quite acceptable >> size consideration I bought this 22 one today to replace my old 20 analog one I am generally happy so far with the quick setup also the clear audio due to the front facing speakers However I realized that in order to view 4 3 programming without cropping and distortion the picture is smaller than the one on my old 20 TV Upon some calculation I can now share this conversion formulae with you if you are looking to buy a HDTV widescreen TV to replace your analog one squarish TV and want to maintain the SAME image size of 4 3 programming contents on your new widescreen TV as on your old squarish one WITHOUT distortion and cropping then the size of the HDTV its diagonal screen dimension should be 1 224 times that of the analog TV For instance to replace my old 20 analog TV and keep the same image size for 4 3 contents I would have to buy a 1 224x20 24 477 one Of course there is no such size but you get the idea buy one bigger than 24 This formulae works regardless of the size of the original TV
